In the past two years the very important issue of recycling has come up. In the process of recycling, what many consider trash is a product that can be used to make new items. Since many communites do not have centers to collect the old products, the government has been considering making recycling centers mandatory. For today's society, recycling would be a very smart and helpful decision. There are three things recycling would have a great effect on; pollution, money, and the population of humans. With the help of recycling, not only will recycling benefit communities it will also benefit the world. With the help of recycling pollution will be greatly reduced. Currently there are ten states that have bottle deposit laws. Studies show that each of those states have highly reduced their pollution because people return the bottles instead of throwing them away. If every state had a deposit law, and mandatory recycling centers the earth would be a beautiful place. Also with these laws and recycling combined, pollution could be put to an end. Also, recycling saves money. Recycling can save the local government and people money. The money we spend on landfills would be much less since the dump grounds will fill up slower. Therefore , the city will not have to buy or use other land for a garbage dump. This is definitly a cost save. Futhermore the city will not have to pick up the trash as often, and therefore the city will be saving money on gas. Since the city is saving money, taxes will decrease, thus the citizens of the town will also save money. Finally, humanity will benefit from recycling. In fact, one of the major reasons recycling has become such a big issue is because it is beneificial to the health of the citizens. If people are not forced to recycle, the overall health of the nation will be affected. Wastes that produce will help...

Mother Teresa was a wonderful woman and a great influence on the world today. She was born in 1910 in Macedonia with the name Agnes Gonxha Bojaxhiu. She was born into a family of deeply religious Catholics. Agnes felt she got the calling to work for God at the young age of fourteen. She joined the Loreto order and went to Bengal, India, to start her studies. In 1937, Agnes took her final vows to become a nun and has done much great work in the world since. Agnes Gonxha Bojaxhiu was born on August 27, 1910 to Nikola and Drana Bojaxhiu in Skopje, Macedonia. Drana and Nikola were Albanian and both were very deeply religious Roman Catholics. Nikola was a popular merchant and a partner to an Italian merchant. He owned several houses and was a member of the Skopje town council. Whenever Agnes' father would return from a trip, he would always bring his children presents. Also, he promoted his daughters' education, which was uncommon in that time period. Nikola also was involved in an underground organization that worked to gain independence for the Albanians from the Ottoman Turks, who ruled Macedonia around the time Agnes was born. Agnes grew up around much fighting. When she was born, there were Albanian protests against the Turkish government. When she was two, she witnessed the First Balkan War. In that war, the Ottomans were defeated, but Macedonia was divided among the conquerors: Bulgaria, Greece, Montenegero, and Serbia. The city of Skopje was distributed to Serbia. Albania received its independence in 1912, but Nikola continued his nationalist work. He joined a movement determined to incorporate Serbia into the Albanian nation. In 1914, when Agnes was only four years old, World War I began. In 1918, her father was killed. Some people...

Like most typical Asian kids, I was pressured by my parents to learn the piano at a very young age. I practiced diligently and I was decent for my age, but it wasn't something I particularly enjoyed. However, it has provided me with a strong foundation of basic music theory and technique, which I applied to my later violin studies. For a few years in middle school, I excelled at the violin, but when introduced to yet an even "better" instrument, I couldn't resist the temptation to switch once more to learn the viola. It was through this instrument that I really began to discover myself through music—I practiced because I wanted to, not because it was something I was compelled to do by my parents, and consequently, I have won several competitions and scholarships through that instrument. This year I have decided to try something different—rather than performing, I have decided to teach. I currently coach the younger orchestras of Tucson Junior Strings every Saturday, as well as teach basic music theory to aspiring musicians. Teaching is fun! Besides music, I volunteer regularly outside of school. During all of my high school summers, I have volunteered at Tucson Medical Center in departments ranging from Information Systems, Unit 300, and Breast Screening. There, I worked with computers, women, children, and senior citizens regularly. I also volunteer at Epoch Senior Living for senior citizens where I provide them with music as well helping with more basic tasks such as serving food and changing bed sheets and linen. But most importantly, I have also discovered the most important aspect of my service at the assisted living center—of being born with an ear! Many of the tenents are visited by their loved ones only once or twice a year—for the other 364 days, it...

There are great consensus in the scientific literature about the unhealthy effects of media violence. Quantitative-analyses show that media-violence viewing consistently is associated with higher levels of antisocial behavior, ranging from the trivial limitative violence directed against toys) to the serious (criminal violence), with many consequential outcomes in between (acceptance of violence as a solution to problems, increased feelings of hostility, and the apparent delivery of painful stimulation to another person). Communication researchers have conducted a wide range of studies to investigate the relationship between mediated factors and the subsequent aggressive behavior 2. The rapid growth of media and its appeal to audiences have triggered concern about its impact on viewers . High level of violence may promote violence or produce harmful effects especially among the young audiences a)The major initial experimental studies of the cause and effect relation between television/film violence and aggressive behavior were conducted by Bandura 1 and his colleagues. In a typical early study conducted by Bandura (Bandura, Ross & Ross, 1963), a young child was presented with a film, back-projected on a television screen, of a model who kicked and punished an inflated plastic doll. The child was then placed in a playroom setting and the incidence of aggressive behaviour was recorded. The results of these early studies indicated that children who had viewed the aggressive film were more aggressive in the playroom than those children who had not observed the aggressive model. These early studies were criticised on the grounds that the aggressive behaviour was not meaningful within the social context and that the stimulus materials were not representative of available television programming. Subsequent studies have used more typical television programs and more realistic measures of aggression, but basically Bandura's early findings still stand. (b)*1 Yet another laboratory experiment by Leornard Berkowitch justifies the harmful media...

EBAY IN 2002 : THE CHALLENGES OF SUSTAINED GROWTH. eBay is the world's online marketplace™. Founded in 1995, eBay created a powerful platform for the sale of goods and services by a passionate community of individuals and businesses. On any given day, there are millions of items across thousands of categories for sale on eBay. eBay enables trade on a local, national and international basis with customized sites in markets around the world. In 1995, eBay created the first online person-to-person trading community on the Internet. Today, eBay is the world's leading e-commerce web site with nearly 4 million items for sale in over 4,000 categories ranging from coins and stamps to toys and antiques. Every day, users around the country and the world list approximately 500,000 items on our site to sell. Being the world's leading e-commerce web site poses a great many challenges for eBay. Not the least among them is the daily challenge of protecting our web site from attack, abuse and misuse by hackers, database pirates and pranksters. As you undoubtedly have heard, last week eBay, Yahoo, e*Trade, CNN and other well known e-commerce sites were victims of an insidious organized attack that shut down portions of their web sites. At eBay, the principal attack occurred at approximately 3 o'clock on February 8th and blocked legitimate access to eBay's site for nearly 90 minutes. That attack was followed by a second attack on our site the next day, which we were effectively able to fend off within a few minutes. Let me explain why these attacks are so serious. This attack fundamentally disrupted business on our nation's key e-commerce sites for several days. Although we don't yet know who was behind this attack, it was obviously well planned and aimed directly at leading commercial web sites, such as ours. As we...

Perhaps Americans take what they have for granted and forget that there are other countries with problems. Why does America care about what is happening in other countries like Columbia, when they have their own problems with drugs? The Untied States of America has a rather large drug trafficking problem but compared to Columbia it is fairly small. To help Columbia solve their problem the U.S. senate has decided to send troops over there and take control. This new involvement will have many consequences in and what can you make for instance the cost of a war, the loss and gain of jobs, and physical side effects. Now war is a very serious subject to study for sociologists, this gives them a chance to study people and how they react to certain environment. Sociologists have three main paradigms that they can coincide with people to learn they function under certain circumstances. The paradigms used are the Structural-Functional, Social-Conflict and Symbolic-Interaction. Here is a brief description to help make the sociologist perspective more understandable. The Structural-Functional paradigm has multiple interrelated parts; morally desirable functional consequences and conflict is often destructive. How is society integrated? What consequences are there for these various parts? The Social-Conflict paradigm is what you have when a society is a competitive situation. Some groups have power and others that want it, some win and some lose. Last the Symbolic-Interaction paradigm is that society is like a stage where people define and redefine meaning as they interact with one another. This brief description should help make this writing about the sociologist view of the war on drugs a little easier to understand. In the events of war people usually tend to suffer great losses financially, the reason for this is because prices go up to cover for the loss of...

Batman Imagine you're 5, and you come home from school. You throw your stuff down, grab the TV remote, sit down, and turn the TV on. You watch the screen go from black to color as you wait anxiously for your cartoon. Then you see a bat. Not any bat, but Batman, cruising around in his bat mobile, and you think "Wow, how cool!" And finally, when your parents take you to Toys' R' Us, you look around for Batman, past the Barbie's, past Spider-Man, past x-m…there it is, the Bat Mobile, the BAT MOBILE with the action figure and the bad guy. You buy it and come home, now you're the new king of the court, new toy, and the slickest one too. That's how I felt when I got my Bat mobile, the best toy ever. Now why is it the best? Because it's the awesome, most coolest car ever, faster than any Hot Wheel. And I was the only one in my court to have all three new Batman vehicles. Now you can say hot wheels is better because of the selection or say it's faster. But hot wheels aren't super heroes, and to me, Batman was my idol. Also, Batman's car wasn't just a normal car; it had secret weapons, a computer built on, and all kinds of good stuff. And I didn't really get into Hot Wheels when I was a little kid, Batman was always better. Why do I like Batman? Because it's the best cartoon ever, a superhero with a sidekick with action and things exploding, it's awesome! I liked it so much, Batman was everywhere in my room, toys, movies, bed sheets, posters, and comics. I loved Batman! You could easily say X-Men were better because they're all super heroes and have special powers. But...

Growing up in Maycomb, Southern Alabama in the 1930s was not an easy thing. Amid a town of prejudice and racism, stood a lone house where equality and respect for all gleamed like a shining star amid an empty space. The house of Atticus Finch was that shining star. Jean Louise Finch, also known as ¡°Scout¡±, is given the opportunity of being raised in this house by her father, Atticus. I stole this essay from the net. As she grows, Atticus passes down his values of equality and righteousness to Scout and her brother Jeremy Atticus Finch, also known as ¡°Jem¡±. In ¡°To Kill a Mockingbird¡±, by Harper Lee, we see Scout learns many lessons about dealing with prejudice by observing the behavior of other characters in the story. Scout learns that by yielding to prejudice, we often hurt and cause strife unto others. For example, Scout is harassed and becomes the target of insults when her father decides to defend Tom Robinson, a black man accused of raping a white woman. This is a plajurized essay. The hate felt towards black people by the majority of the Maycomb citizens causes them to bother and harass those who attempt to befriend the black people. Forgive me for stealing this essay. Scout realizes that the only reason she must undergo this torment is that her father is defending a black man, which has become taboo because of the corruption that racism has caused in many people. In addition, Scout watches Tom Robinson undergo unfair treatment and false accusations. Please dont tell my parents I stole this essay. Although Atticus provides the jury and the people of Maycomb with overwhelming evidence benefiting Tom, and ultimately proving him innocent, this is not enough to overcome the powers of hate and racism. Scout watches as...

So if I could just fit in enough words for and essay, maybe I can get through to it. Please help me out here. My teacher is horrible, and this is due tomorrow. How embarassing. I wonder if anyone actually reads these? I wish I knew how to write a real essay; I cannot. I will go nowhere once I start writing college essays. How terrible is that? No way I am getting an english degree. I want to be a dance major, yet I am not that great a dancer. If that fails, I will just go to FIT in New York and study my second passion, Fashion. I just finished watching Center Stage, the movie. It is so beautiful. My life dream was to become a prima ballerina. Same with my mother. But I have never actually studied ballet. I have only danced for three years on my school dance team. I am pretty darn good for not having studied dance though, not to brag. I cannot think of more to type about so hopefully this will do me good. Thank You for your time. God Bless....
